Delayed Postoperative Hemorrhage After Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy

چکیده
Introduction: The current standard surgical approach for benign adrenal disease is laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Both the transperitoneal and retroperitoneal approaches have been successfully used. We describe the unusual complication of delayed retroperitoneal hemorrhage. Case Description: The patient is a 62-year-old man who underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy. The patient did well initially and was discharged home but presented 11 days postoperatively with abdominal pain and a large hematoma seen on computed tomography scan. An interventional radiology approach with splenic artery coil embolization was successful for management of the hemorrhage. Discussion: Surgeons must be aware of possible severe delayed complications and the appropriate procedure for the laparoscopic approach, including usage of ultrasonic cutting instruments and delayed postoperative hemorrhage.

Bleeding After Right Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy
The current standard of care for treating benign adrenal disease is laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Surgical tools, such as ultrasonic shears and vessel sealing systems, have increased in popularity and improved surgical outcomes. However, the safety profile of clipless and sutureless adrenalectomy has not been completely established. We report on a complicated 74-year-old male who underwent signif...

Laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) was first described by Gagner et al in 1992 (Gagner et al., 1992). Since this time LA has become the procedure of choice for most adrenal pathologies. Multiple case-control studies have consistently demonstrated the benefits of LA compared to open adrenalectomy (OA) in terms of blood loss, analgesic requirments, postoperative complications, hospital stay and earl...
متن کاملObesity does not affect peri- and postoperative outcomes of transabdominal laparoscopic adrenalectomy
Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is the gold standard procedure for most adrenal tumors. Obesity is considered as a risk factor for surgical complications. This study aimed to evaluate whether obesity affects peri- and postoperative outcomes of transabdominal laparoscopic adrenalectomy using body mass index (BMI). This retrospective study included 98 patients who underwent transabdominal laparoscopic...

OBJECTIVES Laparoscopic adrenalectomy has become the standard of care for resection of adrenal masses, with extremely low morbidity and mortality. This study investigates the difference in outcomes in patients who underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomy, comparing obese with healthy weight patients. METHODS A retrospective chart review was performed on patients undergoing laparoscopic adrenalec...

BACKGROUND Bilateral adrenalectomy to control symptoms of Cushing's disease after failed transsphenoidal operation is effective. We examined surgical outcomes and quality of life after laparoscopic bilateral adrenalectomy for the treatment of Cushing's disease. METHODS Eighteen patients underwent laparoscopic bilateral adrenalectomy from November 1994 through December 2000. Patient data were ...
